Feminism In The Modern World – A Fight For Women’s Rights Or Men’s Rights?
The feminist movement is over a hundred years old. During this time, several of its waves occurred. Various offshoots have appeared. Feminism has fundamentally changed life in society. Women have achieved the right to vote, the right to give birth or not to give birth, to choose a profession. With respect to the entire history of mankind, literally all these changes have occurred just recently. How has this influenced the modern world? Is this one of the greatest advances of humanity, or has it become a threat to evolution? Are we heading towards utopia? Is it time for men to sound the alarm? Learning to give birth and wear dresses? In this article, I want to delve into history a little and figure out: is feminism good or bad?
Why are there two genders at all?
In nature, everything is built as perfectly as possible. Everything has its own meaning. Have you ever wondered why the human race is divided into males and females? After all, this is not a prerequisite for reproduction. In nature, there are also asexual creatures that perfectly cope with their reproductive function.
The Soviet scientist, S. V. Geodakyan, in his work “Evolutionary Theory of Sexes” tried to understand this issue. He writes that, compared to some other creatures, humans are built to enhance the quality of life of the next generation. What we call evolution. And for this, everyone had their own role.
Evolutionary theory of sexes. Male and female roles
In this work, Geodakian describes the following. The man is a testing ground on which nature tries certain mechanisms. The woman is the fixer. That is, a man somewhere there extracts something, conquers, checks whether it works or not. And the feminine task was to pass on this filtered knowledge to the next generation.
This went on for many hundreds of years. The woman gave birth and raised children – the man fought and earned food. The male world was dominated by the cult of physical strength. Women realized that physically they were obviously weaker, and men still could not give birth. Everyone was happy with everything.
The beginning of the feminist movement
This happened until about the end of the 19th century. Progress went forward, evolution did its job. This led to the fact that gradually physical strength in the male world began to give way to intellect.
Today, intelligence has completely supplanted strength. That is, no one looks at the nerdy nerd anymore. Some Bill Gates can grow out of him, who will get everything he wants. Women prefer intellectuals over pumped-up athletes.
In the XX century. women decided that if physical strength is no longer so important, that the intellect rules the world, then why not try to enter the male world. After all, if physically women are definitely inferior to men, then intellectually they are no worse.
Then the first wave of feminism took place . Women got the right to earn money themselves in order to vote. Received some kind of protection of society from domestic violence. Women have become full-fledged members of society, and not a second-rate powerless “bonus to a man”, as it was before.
Note that in many languages of the world, the words “man” and “man” still have the same translation. For example, ” man” is English. ” Mann” is German. ” Homme” fr. ” Uomo” and so on. By the way, I am surprised why even radical feminists have not paid attention to this so far. Unlike the stupid, in my opinion, idea of feminitives (manager, designer, plumber? :)). One way or another, imagine how openly a woman was not considered a person in society before the first wave of feminism.
Started to health – drank to peace
This wonderful first wave revolution has strengthened our society. But after the second wave of feminism (60-80), everything went somewhere else. Women somehow began to understand inadequately what equality is. Instead of fighting for your women’s rights. For example, so that motherhood is valued in society as much as career achievements for men. Instead, women wanted to become men.
In the 90s, the concept of “gender” was introduced. That is, if earlier feminists limited themselves only to wearing trousers and working in mines on an equal basis with men (why?). Then during the third wave, women began to fight for the right to change their primary sexual characteristics.
It turns out that women, trying to prove that they are no worse than men, become men? It turns out they openly declare that it is better to be a man? Do they not humiliate the female nature by this ?
Challenges from the feminist movement today
- Due to the fact that feminism has practically devalued the importance and value of motherhood, more and more people in civilized states consider themselves “child free” (or even change their sex). Procreation is today in many families unfashionable, outdated. More and more people consider starting a family and having children as a brake on self-development. The same cannot be said about little civilized countries. As a result, the most intelligent part of society is reducing its population, while the least civilized countries (poor regions of Africa, for example) are increasing it. Where will this lead in a couple of hundred years? I think there is no need to explain.
- Feminists are no longer fighting for women’s rights , but for women’s right to be men. As a result, everything does not even go towards the fact that we humans will become sexless beings. Everything goes to the fact that we will all become men in the end. Don’t you think this is absurd?
Men’s rights
The most surprising thing is that this struggle for equality is going on only from our side, from the side of women. But for some reason no one thinks about the imposed stereotypes about men.
Women were allowed to do absolutely whatever they wanted. Do you want to wear pants? You are welcome. Do you want to serve in special forces? Why, but, okay, it doesn’t matter – serve yourself, Lord! Do you want “body positive” , do not wash, do not shave and do not take care of yourself? Okay, take it. Change gender? Okay! And they are still unhappy. They are still being oppressed.
Imagine yourself in the shoes of men. You can’t guess at all. Let’s imagine the first date. The man is like in a minefield. Paid for dinner? Sexist. Didn’t pay for dinner? Redneck. A very simple scheme.
At the same time, for the most part, society still requires a man to, for example, provide for his family or earn more. And so, a little boy grows up, who does not understand at all what is happening. He comes for answers to the older generation. “Mom, why should I earn more?” “Well, because it is necessary, son.” “Akei, dad, why exactly should I provide for my family?” “Son, just forget it, you better not ask unnecessary questions.”
What am I leading to? For some reason, men do not have to wear a dress to feel equal with a woman. But no one is screaming about gender discrimination.
So should feminism continue to exist in modern society?
Certainly. In many countries (primarily Muslim), there is a big problem associated with the education of girls. There are still problems of domestic violence. Therefore, feminism must exist and defend the rights of women. But there is no way to make men out of women.
It is great that in Western countries women can be independent, that they can develop, and have the right to vote. But we must fight for women’s rights.
It is definitely necessary to deal with this issue. The question is that any field of activity does not pervert itself. So that no one goes crazy on this basis. (V.V. Putin)
